Monster Cookies

This Monster Cookie recipe is a soft and chewy mix of chocolate chip cookies with oatmeal, peanut butter, and chocolate candies. Plus this dough can be used for two cookies – classic chocolate chip cookies and monster cookies, so there is a little variety for the cookie jar. The great thing about Monster Cookies is you can mix up the ingredients to your taste with options like coconut, dried fruit, or nuts.

Cold February days have me counting down to days until spring, so in the meantime I feel like a great treat for the family is some delicious cookies. Though classic chocolate chip cookies are always a favorite go-to cookie, sometimes mixing things up a bit can be fun. If you want an option without peanut butter that can be left out, just add in your favorite ingredients to customize to your taste. Here are some other options to try:

  • flax seed
  • protein powder
  • dried fruits like cranberries or blueberries
  • white chocolate chips
  • walnuts
  • coconut
  • Reeses Pieces or cups
  • M&Ms- plain or peanut

Recipe for the Nestle Toll House chocolate chip cookie dough:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • 2 1/4 Cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet morsels

Monster cookie add-ins:

  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup M&Ms

Combine the flour, salt, and baking soda in a bowl. In the mixer bowl cream together the white and brown sugars with the butter and vanilla until combined. Add eggs, then add dry mixture. Finally, add the chocolate chips. Now you have your classic base dough. I like to split the recipe into two and bake a tray of chocolate chip cookies and then combine the “monster ingredients” for the second batch. If you prefer just double the add-in ingredients to make a full batch of tasty monster cookies.

I bake the cookies on a cookie sheet with a silicone baking mat so the dough doesn’t stick or burn, or can line the tray with parchment paper. Bake for 8-10 minutes until just lightly golden brown the take out and let cool. I like these cookies to be super soft and chewy, so I don’t want to over-bake them.
